Focus On the Source

Standard

“He who believes in Me . . .
out of his heart will flow rivers of living water”

~Jesus

“A river is victoriously persistent, overcoming all barriers.  For a while it goes steadily on its course, but then comes to an obstacle.  And for a while it is blocked, yet it soon makes a pathway around the obstacle.  Or a river will drop out of sight for miles, only later to emerge again even broader and greater than ever.

Do you see God using the lives of others, but an obstacle has come into your life and you do not seem to be of any use to God?  Then keep paying attention to the Source, and God will either take you around the obstacle or remove it.

The river of the Spirit of God overcomes all obstacles.

Never focus your eyes on the obstacle or the difficulty.  The obstacle will be a matter of total indifference to the river that will flow steadily through you if you will simply remember to stay focused on the Source.  Never allow anything to come between you and Jesus Christ — not emotion nor experience — nothing must keep you from the one great sovereign Source.”

  1. Michelle,

Thanks for this needed reminder (via Oswald =).
If I could be so bold as to confirm his insights, I’d also say the river (or our individual ‘streams’ contributing to it) will flow all the purer and stronger precisely BECAUSE of the obstacles meant to ‘hinder’ it.

‘Good to have a chance to get back here for your personal insights as well!

  2. Hey, Laz. It’s good to see you here. 🙂

I enjoy Oswald. It seems, at times, the obstacles can’t be a help, only a hindrance. I do hope I’m beginning to see the purifying and strengthening factor they can bring. It’s all about growth, isn’t it?

  3. Keeping our focus on our faith is what allows us to get pass any obstacle we find in our way.

I will add that keeping that focus does not get any easier as we get older. Just trying to find my keys, usually right in front of me, or my eyeglasses, on top of my head, reminds me of how hard keeping my focus can be. 🙂

The stronger our faith is the more indifferent we become to any obstacle that tries to keep us from our goal.

“You don’t drown by falling in the water; you drown by staying there.”

  4. Adding to what Ed said, i think that His Faith in us is comparable to the Gravity that keeps the water in the river working so as to reach it’s final destination – The Ocean.

Just like gravity (Faith) acting on us, we also have our own amount of gravity (faith) that adds – but in smaller measure – to the total work being done.

Gravity has had a hand in placing those obstacles in our way – just as He has had a hand in putting them in our way also.

Neither gravity nor faith plays ‘favourites’ to us it just acts and we comply to whatever we find along the way.
